Midweek meme...

The lovely Laura has tagged me in a sort of "what do you have by your bed to read" meme.  The rules are that you have to take a picture of the books....explain a little about them...and then tag a few bloggers..
So first up...the picture.

This is my bedside table...at least how I would like it to look.In other words..This is my bedside table if it were a work of fiction.  Notice the GINORMOUS American eagle vase in the background.  This was my Christmas present from Oscar(he found it at a thrift sale..). He knows that I like eagles..and he told me that this...reminded him of me?  I'm still thinking on that.  Do you see my little book light?  That is for when I read at night.  I really do wish it looked like this.  but instead it looks like this....

Do you notice the abundance of "My Little Pony" books? Yup-I believe that we have all the latest pony literature- unabridged (for all you purists)  There is also a "Stuart Little" book..and a "Gregor" book from the series by Suzanne Collins. I did not put them there.  Really. My books are on the top of the pony pile-they are a few of the many books I am currently reading. "To Kill A Mockingbird" by Harper Lee(on the top of the pile) is one I just reread for the third time. It is so beautifully written-it is one of my all time favorites. I am also reading "A Long Ride for a Slice of Pie" By Tim Mulliner..it is true story about riding a bike from London to New Zealand for some Kiwi pie..And "The Will of the Empress" by Tamora Pierce-one of my favorite YA authors. She writes wonderfully strong girl characters.  Again, the pony books are not mine. I will admit to reading the Gregor book-but only because Sam asked me to. I actually kind of have to-as he will come to me and start a discussion about it-not really noticing if I know what he is talking about or not. So, I read it in order to keep an edge. Again, I do NOT read the pony books.

So now I get to tag some bloggers to see what they are reading. I also wonder if any of them have a glorious American Eagle vase like I do...or" My Little pony Books"..(which I don't read.)  I think that you can learn much about a person by what they read. (or don't read i.e. pony books) So, I look forward to seeing what these fellow bloggers read...Tag you're it!

OK first, I sooo know you DO read My Little Pony books, we all do. And I know some of them have sitckers in them and you put those stickers all over your grown up books to make them even ponier and prettier. The scratch and sniff are the best....and from the looks of it you have REALLY dry skin. ;)

Are you laughing with me??

Ok, I've gotten that out of my system...I'm honored and humbled and now my husband pulled in the drive so I must go...

hugs to you

Well, thank you. How sweet of you to think of me. :) We couldn't have done this when I was on my Shakespeare and Dickens kick a few months ago? Guess I had better go take some pictures from an angle that doesn't require cleaning any part of my house.

Yeah..you're not even fooling this Aspie with the whole not reading the pony books thing. And we're notoriously gullible. Me thinks thou doth protest too much. ;-)

Loved it, and you delivered the giggle!!! (((hugs)))

Sweet vase. Do you like Pinkie Pie or Sweetie Belle better?

No one's buying you don't read those My Little Pony books. :-) Except me; I'd buy that you only read them under great duress, only because your girlies absolutely insist on it!

@ Lizbeth-heehee..I DO have awfully dry skin! I am a constant moisturizer! I think it is caused the the pony books-really..you know the ones I DON'T read? :)

@ Diane-Ahhh..but do you have pony books? I think that my bedside is the only clean part of my house...although when I took the books off of the table to photograph it-I chased herds of duast bunnies under the bed...where they will stay for a while...

@Life in the house-you just have pony envy. I am really just a pony hoarder..I swear...really..telling the truth here...((())) right back at you. :)

@ Lynn-It is a lovely vase..so very blue and large..I've never another like it...Sweetie who? I don't know those names..

@Kwombles-They just appeared there one day...really..appeared and were forgotten about..so I leave them in hopes that they will remain forgotten..:)

Oh, you read such clever books Kathleen. Well, My Little Pony aside that is :-P My choices are all thrillers! And they're not even on my bedside table... they're on the floor!

Never really got the whole reading in bed thing. Beds are for sleeping...and, well, making things. Anyway.

Reading has never been a sleepy-time activity for me. If I read before bed, I go to bed really, really, really late. Like right before it's time to get the boys up for the bus and then it's "Oops! I guess I don't get to sleep tonight. Darn. I really wanted to do that."

So, no books on nightstand. Actually, my nightstand is in the living room anyway and is currently being used by Willy to hide his drawings from his brother and the paper-recycling-monster, which is, um, well, me. (My kids go through about 50 sheets of paper a day, so recycling is a necessity.)

@K-floortime-It IS such a wonderful book-so beautifully written..

@Stephanie-ha! yup..sleeping and "other" things :)
Before kids, I often stayed up reading till all hours of the night..BUT after years of sleep deprivation..I have gotten stingy with my sleep. :) I am so with you on the drawing..I have a post coming up about Sams drawing-and his desire to save EVERYTHING. :)

Hi Kathleen
My name is Ashley and I came across your blog through Apples and Autobots. My husband Ryan is working on completing his PhD in clinical psychology and for his final research project he is researching ASD in children. I was wondering if you would be able to help us out by filling out a quick online survey. If you are, we'd greatly appreciate it and the survey can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ASDStudy Thanks for your help in ASD research. Please email me if you have any questions. Have a good Friday tomorrow!
Ashley
