Genocide McCarthy strikes again!

She's back! Well, it is autism awareness month, and she DOES have a book to sell-along with co-author Dr.Jerry "Autism as I see it, Steals the Soul from a child" Kartzinel. She sat down with Time magazines science editor, Jeffrey Kluger to discuss autism's possible causes and of course vaccines. It is an article worth reading

Q&A: Jenny McCarthy on Autism - TIMEhttp://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1888718,00.html

I just have to comment on some of the statements that she made...I just can't help it..

JENNY SAYS-
"IF you ask a parent of an autistic child if they want the measles or the autism, we will stand in line for the f---ing measles."

Excuse me? Was I absent the day this question was asked? Jenny, I'm sorry that I missed your phone call...but, when did I become a part of "we"? Of course, you could TALK about standing in the measles line...your son was immunized. How bold you are with other peoples children. I am afraid that I have to differ with you on this one Jenny. I think that the measles, its side effects and its mortality rate are much more frightening than autism.

jENNY SAYS-
"I do believe sadly, it's going to take some diseases coming back to realize that we need to change and develop vaccines that are safe. If the vaccine companies are not listening to us, it's their f---ing fault that the diseases are coming back. They're making a product that's s---."

So Jen, (I can call you Jen, right? I mean seeing that you made me a part of the collective "we...) You are saying that in essence, children may have to suffer or perhaps even die in order to prove your point? Not to negate your intelligence or anything...I understand your education is from google and all..But do you even know what the measles or polio can do to a person? Are you actually promoting the idea of sacrificing lives to gain momentum for your cause? Are you really saying that? Are you that much of a narcissistic egomaniac that you have no problem promoting that people should endanger their childrens lives because of your singular experience?! You discuss "fault",.. how about some responsibility, and where the hell is YOURS?

So are we going to see a rise in court cases of parents suing the vaccine companies because their kids got the measles instead of autism?...what about the parents of the children who get both? What are we going to do then? More importantly, what will people like Jenny McCarthy say... "sorry about the pandemic-but at least we know, death cures autism?" Go Jenny! No, I mean it GO...AWAY!

I don't even know if there are enough words to express how pissed off I am at her. She so does not speak for me. Not now, not ever.

I am hoping that the sheer stupidity of what she said, finally gets through to people...Saying that polio and the measles ought to come back???!!! That is just crazy...I don'tthink that any decent human being could support that.

You make many good points. I don't understand the "cure" she talks about. Many of the developmentally disabled people I work with have some signs (on the spectrum?) of autism, though that is not their primary diagnosis. It would be lovely if all we had to do was change vaccines. I work with people who are elderly, labeled MR/DD, and show autistic tendencies. They were not vaccinated like the children of today. What caused their
"disability"? I believe Jenny over-simplifies the issue. She seems to want to "blame" someone or something. Sometimes it is just the "cards you are dealt". What is needed is acceptance and understanding of people who are not the "norm". The word has to get out that people who are labeled "MR/DD", "autistic" etc. are people. They can learn, hold jobs, contribute to society, get married, live on their own. I wonder what their "take" would be on Jenny's measles would be better attitude.

Polio, measles, mumps and the common flu virus.......all killers. Why can't we find a prominent spokesperson for you and yours and me and mine?
Best wishes

I came here following Nostrum, who posted to my blog.

Jenny is now part of the AoA Collective, where they all think with one mind. I am proudly banned from posting there, as they clearly do not like my take-no-prisoners style. Jenny IS toxic, and detrimental to the health of children. I am decidedly pro-vaccine, and am annoyed at Amanda Peet for appologizing for calling non-vaccinators parasites.

Nice perspectives on living with Autism. While neither of my boys are autistic, both grew up with severe disabilities, and I see so many similarities with what parents of autistic kids deal with it is astounding.

The whole anti-vax idea scares the hell out of me. Congrats on being banned-that is very much an honor in my opinion.
parenting any child with a disability is astounding! I am so happy when I find other parents like myself-who appreciate our children for who they are-and not for what they aren't.

Kathleen, I wouldn't say that I'm anti-vax, but I would separate the concerned/religious parents from the Jenny McCarthy types.

I have had ALL of my vaccines as a child and still developed a medically documented case of measles. We just can't say when a child dies that it's because of lack of vaccine if people who were vaccinated can also get ill. (I hope that's not what Ms. McCarthy means... good grief.)

We are NOT doing MMR and polio, but not because of the alleged autism/ vaccine connection. I'm not seeing the polio as enough of a threat to use the IPV... why do IPV if OPV is more effective? Why are they doing IPV if it isn't as effective as OPV?

I would rather take my chance (not much of a chance, really!) on wild polio and know that the OPV is EFFECTIVE than get the IPV. And if you don't need something that effective, why are they giving out the vaccine to millions of children if there could be side effects? Hey, I'll get OPV for my children if it comes back.

The MMR? We'll happily get the measles or mumps shot, but not rubella for religious reasons. No one yet we have been in contact with medically has found a place we could get measles/mumps done on our insurance.

DTaP is something we're sure our children get, as well as *most* other vaccines. But I'm not going to paint with a broad brush and say all vaccines are "safe" or "unsafe." I evaluate each one as a mom and make my decisions accordingly. :]

Mrs. C-the most important thing that you said is that YOU are evaluating-you are not being guided by a celebrity..I was shocked when Ms. McCarthy went on oprah-and after the show, on the website-people were asking Ms.McCarthy when they should vaccinate..that is pretty scary to me..why is a celebrity more informed than a professional...
